Inexpensive and Creative Date Ideas
65If you've gotten past that first date years ago, you're likely having trouble deciding where to go on a date. Unlike the teenagers in your neighborhood you feel like you've done it all and there's nothing creative -- or at least inexpensive -- you can do with your honey. These ideas should get you jump started and help you keep your eye open for even more creative and fun ways to date. All these are tried and true. My wife and I did them, and now I want to share them with you.
Build Your Own Coffee Shop Experience
In our house my wife and I have two living rooms. One of the living rooms is connected to the dinning room where the table sits. I dragged the table into the other living room for seclusion. Then I 'built' our own little coffee shop. I arranged the chairs so we could see each other. I bought and made good coffee. I even cooked a quiche to complete the entire experience.
I woke her up early (and I warned her I would be waking her up). We sat in the "coffee shop" and drank coffee and ate quiche and talked. We got to know each other again. The quite morning allowed us to slow down and enjoy our time without worrying about being late for anything.
I suggest supplementing specifics that are particular to your significant other. For example, my wife enjoys a certain type of orange juice so I bought it and put it on the table.
Do a Service Project Together
Passion invigorated your every move when you began dating. That's why you remember those beginning days with such fond memories. So spark some passion again and do something together that you feel passionate about!
Does your heart bleed for the homeless? Serve at the shelter together. Do you want to help shape and encourage the next generation? Get involved in youth organizations or tutor a high school student. Do you have money in the bank and you'd like to help people out? Find an underprivileged family and take them shopping.
There are a number of ways you can serve together. Sit down and decide what matters to both of you -- then do it!
Re-enact Your Most Memorable Date
Everybody has a dating experience that comes to mind most often when thinking through old dates. Go and do it again. If you want, put a new spin on it to make it fresh. My wife and I went out for coffee on our first date. That's why I re-enacted it in our living room (see above).
Visit/Revisit a Positive Childhood Memory
Nothing matters more to your significant other than getting close to you in one way or another. And nothing screams "personal" like a childhood memory. Maybe it's your old high school, a popular hang out spot or your favorite neighbor's house. Take your significant other there and tell them the story of why it's important to you.
